Standards define equipment appearance, functionality, and protocols, essential for network communication. Network standards ensure uniform rules for communication among devices, enabling compatibility among computing and networking products from different manufacturers like Cisco and IBM. Compliance with standards ensures hardware compatibility, facilitating efficient networking.
Standard organizations develop, coordinate, and revise technical standards to address device requirements and enable interoperability. IEEE, IETF, ITU, and ANSI are examples of organizations working on standardization in computing equipment. Their efforts ensure compatibility among devices from different manufacturers and regions.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO):

It covers a wide range of elds. The ISO has members from the standards committees of various governments across the world. It is even responsible for developing models which provides high level of system compatibility, quality enhancement, improved productivity and reduction in costs. The ISO is also responsible for endorsing and coordinating the functions of the other standards organizations.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE):

It is an international professional non-prot organization. Electronics, computer and communication engineers, researchers, scientists and students are the members of IEEE. This organization develops communication and information processing standards for all elds related to electrical and computer engineering.

International Engineering Task Force (IETF):

It is a large international community of network designers, operators, vendors and researchers concerned with the development of internet architecture and smooth operation of the internet.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

This organization is a specialized agency that is responsible for resolving the issues that concern with information and communication Technologies.

American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

ANSI is the official standards agency in the United States, operating as a private, non-profit organization. It oversees standards for various domains such as products, services, processes, systems, and personnel. ANSI membership includes individuals from professional societies, industry associations, governmental and regulatory bodies, and consumer goods.
