Ingestion is the process of taking food in the body. Amoeba identifier its food i.e.,
Complex organic matter then captures it by the mean of pseudopodia (cytoplasm projections also called false feet). These pseudopodia enclose food particle and prevent it from escaping by forming food vacuole.
The complex food is broken into simpler molecules with the help of digestive enzymes produced by an organelle called lysosomes. The digested food is distributed in the cytoplasm.
The undigested food is egested through the cell membrane.
