Computer networks are systems that connect multiple computers or devices together to facilitate communication, data sharing, and resource sharing. They enable devices to exchange information and collaborate, whether they are located in the same room or spread across different geographic locations.

Computer Network and Networking:

Computer Network:

A computer network is a collection of interconnected devices, such as computers, servers, printers, and switches, that are linked together to facilitate communication and resource sharing. Networks can be classified based on their geographical scope:

Local Area Network (LAN):

A LAN covers a small geographical area, such as a home, office, or building. LANs typically use Ethernet or Wi-Fi technologies for communication.

Metropolitan Area Network (MAN):

A MAN covers an intermediate geographical area, such as a city or a campus, and interconnects multiple LANs.

Wide Area Network (WAN):

A WAN spans a larger area, such as multiple buildings, cities, or even countries. It connects LANs over long distances and often utilizes public or private telecommunication links, such as leased lines, MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching), or the internet itself.
